Refund policy
Shader Bytes · last updated 20 August 2026
Bought in the Android or iOS app? Google and Apple take the payment, so they issue the refund — we cannot. Bought on the website? Ask us and we will do it. Anything that never worked, we refund regardless.
Contents
Who refunds you depends on who took your money, and that is not the same everywhere. Find where you bought it below.
Bought in the Android app
Google Play took the payment, so Google issues the refund. Google's own policy allows a refund within 48 hours of purchase directly from your Google Play order history; after that Google reviews it case by case.
If Google turns you down and you think that is wrong, write to support@stereobox.io. We can issue a refund from our side of Play Console, and we will where the request is fair.
Bought in the iPhone or iPad app
Apple takes every payment made inside an iOS app and handles every refund itself. We have no ability to refund an App Store purchase — this is Apple's rule, not a policy choice of ours. Request one at reportaproblem.apple.com.
Bought on the website
Stripe took the payment and we can refund it directly. Write to support@stereobox.io with the email address on the account. Approved refunds are sent back to the original card within five working days, and how quickly it appears is then up to your bank.
When we refund without argument
- The track never downloaded, or the file is broken.
- Something you bought was removed from Stereobox because whoever uploaded it did not have the rights to it.
- You were charged twice for the same thing.
- A subscription renewed after you had cancelled it.
- You bought ownership of a track and we could not complete the transfer.
Your right to cancel, if you are in the EU or UK
Consumers in the EEA and the UK normally have 14 days to withdraw from a distance contract without giving a reason. Digital content is the exception, and it is worth understanding before you buy:
When you buy a download, a licence or ownership, delivery is immediate. At checkout you are asked to agree that delivery starts right away and to acknowledge that doing so ends your right of withdrawal — that requirement comes from Article 16(m) of the Consumer Rights Directive. Until you press that button nothing is delivered and you can still walk away.
A subscription is different. You may withdraw within 14 days of starting one; we refund the whole amount, less a proportionate charge for the days you actually listened ad-free. Write to support@stereobox.io — no form and no reason needed.
None of this affects your statutory rights if what you bought was faulty. Those apply on top, always, and no term on this page can take them away.
Cancelling a subscription
Cancelling stops the next charge. You keep ad-free listening until the month you have already paid for ends, and we do not pro-rate the remainder of a month you chose to end early.
| Where you subscribed | How to cancel |
|---|---|
| Android | Play Store → your picture → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions → Stereobox |
| iPhone or iPad | Settings → your name → Subscriptions → Stereobox |
| Website | Settings → Subscription → Cancel |
What we do not refund
- A track you downloaded, listened to and simply did not enjoy — the file was delivered and works.
- Ownership of a track after the transfer has completed and the track has been taken off sale, because the artist has already given up the right to sell it again. Tell us within 24 hours if something went wrong and we will look.
- Months of a subscription that have already been used.
Artists and payouts
When a buyer is refunded, the corresponding earnings come back out of the artist's balance. If the balance has already been paid out, it is taken from the next payout.
